French Toast and The Art of De-cluttering…

I decided to make my husband “breakfast in bed” French Toast this morning. He has been very helpful this past weekend with the baby while I recouped from surgery. I’m feeling better today.

French Toast is probably one of the easier things to make for breakfast and takes little ingredients. Here’s what I did this morning.

3 eggs
1/2 c. fat free half and half
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. vanilla
1 T. brown sugar
Round French Bread sliced (you can use any bread though)
Whisked it up and Saran wrapped it and stuck it in the fridge( he’s still sleeping).

He’s awake!
I took out my large skillet and took about a tablespoon of butter and let it melt.
Soaked the slices in the egg mixture to saturate and cooked them until golden brown.

I finished them by spreading a little butter and real maple syrup.

The Verdict:
Hubby:They’re great!
Me: Pretty tasty

Okay…so let’s get to the de-clutter part. This is probably my least favorite and most favorite thing to do. I really dislike going through stuff because I know that I need to get rid of stuff on one hand, but I really MAY need those 20 vases that I’ve had in my closet that I’ve maybe used twice. It sounded like a great idea when we were registering for our wedding…you remember those days.

“Yes, honey, we really need 2 square, 2 small round, 2 large round and a GIANT hurricane vase”, “I’m going to have fresh flowers every week and I’ll decorate with the big one by putting pine cones for winter and Easter eggs for spring…” You get the picture.

The vases are the least of my worries, but it’s what I’ll be tackling this week in my “52 week de-clutter my life project”.For those of you like me that need some order check out http://www.mrshappyhomemaker.com. I’ve been reading her blog awhile now and have tried quite a few of her recipes and she is awesome. Her latest blog talks about her 52 week challenge to de-clutter and I’m joining in. So….this week I’ll be cleaning out the closet in the nursery/office/guestroom ( city living makes for some multi-purpose spaces) and making three piles.

1. keep 2. throw away 3. give/sell. Sounds easy enough, right?!?!? I can’t wait to see the finished project, that is the best feeling.

Make some French Toast and then get to work…

  1. I am great at decluttering, each time we have moved around the country we have purged a lot of material things. It is very cleansing and makes you realize not to be connected to things. Love the new blog, thanks for sharing.

  2. Finally saw a kitchen the size of mine! I can’t get the plug by the fridge to work – if the fridge goes on the power goes out!
